Ollie's 3rd birthday is coming up very soon, so I'm hoping to revamp his bedroom as part of my gift to him. I bought a low line Ikea TV unit on eBay many months ago with the intention of it becoming a window seat for his room. He has a corner window with excellent natural light, so it's the perfect spot for a seat.

::Before
The TV unit had glass sliding doors, which I removed as soon as I got it home. I also removed the shelves so the storage area is big enough to hold some larger toys and a large box of his trains.

::After stage #1
I had some dense foam cut at Clark Rubber to fit the top, then made up a cushion cover using some decorating weight fabric from Spotlight. I used a super easy pattern from a book I found in an op shop a few weeks ago - Pure Fabrication. It has some really over-the-top decorating advice from 1985, but also has some good basic home decorating patterns.
Ollie is really enjoying sitting there and reading - I think I've read his favourite book to him at least 8 times since yesterday (Harry the Dirty Dog - a great story for little boys who think they are dogs!).

Looks fantastic! What a nice reading corner.
Looking good - but how long will it stay looking so beautiful. Hmm not long if Ollie is anything like the Boo.
wow, you did well. The seat looks very inviting & practical. I'm needing a bit of motivation to organise the kid's rooms.
