new beginnings

Despite having a room filled with unfinished sewing, knitting and crochet projects, I started a couple of new things.

The first project is still on paper (albeit freezer paper), but hopefully I will start cutting into some fabric for it today. It's a bit of a sneak peak at what I'm making for my partner for the {Urban} Home Goods swap.
The other project I've recently started is some hexagon flowers for a Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt. They are quite addictive, so I've churned out many more than I thought I would since Saturday. I'm wishing now that I'd kept some of Miss J's dresses from when she was little so I could add pieces of them ...

Oh wow... The hexes! What size are you making? I'm just about to take a deep breath and join in a hexagon charm quilt-a-long... I'm thinking one inch... That's going to mean a LOT of different fabrics. Yay!

Hi Jo -

Where do you find freezer paper in Melbourne? Is it the same stuff we have here, which is just a semi-opaque plastic?

And I love the dressform solution, too :)

Love the hexes Jo, I think I'm going to have to give handpiecing a go soon, I love the look of it too much not to!

I love the idea of using J's dresses. I don't think there's much left of any of Felix's clothes, he wears them pretty hard ;)
